Food For Thought

How healthy is the food we eat every day? Our trip to New World on Tuesday helped us work this out. We read the labels of everyday food items and occasional food items to check out the amount of sugar, fat, sodium and fibre that was in them. Using the rules we learnt last week (less than 10g of sugar, less than 10g of fat, less than 400mg of sodium and more than 5g of fibre) we could clearly see how healthy or unhealthy different food items were. We left New World with a new lunch box, a bag of apple slices and a wealth of new knowledge about food. Hopefully we can remember the food rules to help us make better choices about the things we eat each day.
Thanks to the parents/grandparents who provided transport to New World and who helped with label reading.
